"Wound Debridement Course Addressing All Types of Debridement Including Sharp"
The CWCC Wound Debridement for Medical Professionals course is designed for physicians, naturopathic doctors, physician associates, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, nurses, and all those who support or provide wound care services to patients. How to choose which form of debridement to use to optimize wound healing is the focus of this course. All five forms of debridement (mechanical, autolytic, biological, enzymatic, sharp) will be reviewed including practical applications of each form.
The course includes topic-specific lectures given by local wound care experts and interactive sharps debridement practice for all participants. We will also feature vendors showcasing their latest wound-care related products and services in our exhibit hall. The course is 5 hours total for the day with lectures and demonstrations available.
This activity has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM as well as ANCC contact hours, see full details on this page in the Accreditation block. The program also meets requirements for PT and OT educational credit by Oregon and Washington licensing boards.
In addition to your credit certificate, you will be issued a completion certificate for your records. Participants should consult with their employer's policies before implementing these skills in their practice.

The knowledge gained by listening to the presentations and participating in any hands-on education will support the information obtained from a Wound Care Certification Program.

Pat Buckley, PA-C, ND, WCC
Advanced Practice CAP MemberPat Buckley, PA-C, ND, WCC, DWC has worked for Central City Concern since September of 2009. Her work with marginalized populations began as a student of Naturopathic Medicine back in 2001. That is what ultimately led her to go back to school and seek a second degree as a Physician Associate. During her time with Central City Concern’s – Old Town Clinic she has championed a number of positions working in shelter-based clinics. She also opened OTC’s first wound care clinic in May of 2013 and has worked diligently, since that time, to meet the wound care needs of this population.
Elizabeth Feddersen, FNP-C
CWCC PresidentElizabeth Feddersen, NP, CWON, CFCN worked at Kaiser Permanente for 29 years. She worked in the acute care hospital, Regional Telephonic Advice (providing wound and ostomy support as needed to patients over the phone) and ran a Preventative Medicine Foot Care clinic. Her other long term employer is Legacy Health Systems. Here she started the first outpatient wound care program at Mt. Hood Medical Center and supported the inpatient population at this facility. She continues to work for Legacy as a resource WOCN RN. After obtaining her Family Nurse Practitioner Certification, she now works in the medical clinic at the Oregon State Mental Hospital, supporting the overall medical care as well as wound care in this fragile population.
Enoch Huang
MD, MPH, TM, FACEP, FUHM, FACCWSEnoch Huang, MD, MPH&TM, FACEP, FUHM, FACCWS is the Program Medical Director for Hyperbaric Medicine and Chronic Wound Care at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland, OR. He graduated Princeton University with a degree in Chemistry. He attended medical school at Tulane University School of Medicine where he also obtained a Masters degree in Public Health and Tropical Medicine. He completed a residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of California, Irvine and went on to complete a fellowship in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He is board-certified in Emergency Medicine as well as Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine. He is the founder and past-president of the Columbia Wound Care Community – a multi-disciplinary, multi-hospital group of wound care providers in the greater Portland metropolitan area. He is the Past-President of the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society.
Shirley Kenney, BSN, RN, CWCN
Nursing CAP Member, Education Committee Co-ChairShirley Kenney, BSN, RN, CWCN is recently retired from Providence Portland Medical Center where she worked for over 40 years. She worked in a post-surgical unit, Intensive Care and Ostomy her first 20 years and has worked her last 20+ years at the Providence Portland Advanced Wound Clinic as a CWCN. She a 1978 graduate of the University of Portland Nursing School. Shirley has also instructed at Concordia University as an Adjunct Faculty member in their Nursing Skills lab.
Kim Krafft, BSN, RN, CWON
Corbett, ORKim started her nursing career in the US Navy. She has worked in a variety of nursing positions from the ED to the Cath Lab, and from clinical research to clinical education. Her love for wound care developed after she joined the team at Leaf Health Care, a start-up medical device company, where she helped develop a pressure injury prevention device that Smith and Nephew later purchased. She became a WOCN in 2024 and has spoken nationally on wound care for the past 3 years.
Kim currently works with Peace Health in Vancouver.
Alejandro Perez, MD, FSVM, RPVI
Past President 2017, Physician CAP MemberDr. Alejandro Perez is Oregon’s only dedicated Vascular Medicine specialist. He is the Medical Director of Vascular Rehabilitation Program and Non-invasive Vascular Laboratory for Providence hospitals in Portland service area.
Dr. Perez received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University. After earning his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, N.Y., he completed his internal medicine internship, residency and vascular medicine fellowship at Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. Dr. Perez is board-certified in both vascular medicine and internal medicine and is credentialed to interpret non-invasive vascular ultrasound laboratory studies.
Dr. Perez has been Medical Director of wound clinics and has been involved in wound care since 2009.
Terrie Ratchen, BSN, RN, CWCN
Portland, ORTerrie Ratchen, BSN, RN, CWCN graduated from Linfield College in 1989. She worked in rehab nursing and as a float nurse, but later transferred to the wound care department in 2003. Terrie has been an active member of Columbia Wound Care Community for many years where she has been an instructor and member of the education committee.
E. Foy White-Chu, MD, CWSP, AGSF
Vice-PresidentDr. White-Chu is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Oregon Health & Sciences University (OHSU) and is the medical director of the Wound Healing Program at the Portland VA Health Care System (VAPHCS). She sees veterans with limb threatening wounds as well as those living with pressure ulcers, venous leg ulcers, and other chronic wounds. She has published in peer-reviewed journals her medical school and residency wound healing curricula. Dr. White-Chu strives to simplify the complexity of chronic wound care in older adults for frontline providers in hopes that all older adults can receive timely, appropriate treatments.
